People seem so shocked and surprised that Donald Trump is talking with Kim Jong Un. Well, why not? There is much more to gain with Trump than with any previous USA president. Bush referred to North Korea as part of the "axis of evil". Obama just wanted to talk about limiting the nuclear war heads or else more sanctions. Kimmie's handlers knew not to meet with those presidents as they would hold up a certain level of morals to which they would want Kimmie to meet and then maintain.
With Trump, it is quite different. With all the sanctions currently imposed on North Korea, they are in quite desperate straights, needing but not getting many things from the rest of the world. The handlers can see that Trump is more apt to negotiate away at least some sanctions if there is a chance of ecomonic gain for the global companies Trump represents. So the time is right to meet with the "west" and see what they can get out of it.
