Fred Munches and Munches

So Fred has only been in his cage for around 42 hours and he has already eaten thru two dozen leaves! He is really a poop machine as he processes this stuff. I've had to dump his droppings several times now from the cage. So he does create quite the amount of fertilizer for his size. (Hhmmmm how many of you have walked thru your garden barefoot? Just think about that for a moment.....)

Fred gets rather active during the daylight and has been exploring his cage, wondering what kind of plant he has landed on. Since the sides of the cage are netting to easily let in air, he can grab ahold of the walls with his little feet/claws and go upside down as he checks out all parts of the cage.

He is also quite the noise maker! Never thought about how much noise a little thing like this can produce but now, since his cage is on the table next to the sofa, I can hear him moving around and, even when he is eating, the leaves rattle as he pulls them into his jaws.

Guess I need to check and see what the signs are for when he might turn into a chrysalis. Or maybe his type does the cocoon thing? Hmmmm... gotta go check that out!
